Centre will not resort to any change in Constitution: Athavale
Mangaluru: "As the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has himself clarified that Constitution was the sacred scripture of the nation, the Union Government would not resort to any move such as changing the Constitution," said Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Republic Party leader Ramadas Athavale.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he said no one can change the preamble of the Constitution. Over the years there have been some amendments to the Constitution while the basic essence of the Constitution has remained intact, he said.
Athavale expressed his concern over rising atrocities on Dalits and added that the atrocities have not ended despite inter-caste marriages taking place. He said his party would back the BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections in the state.
